Activity Book for Primary School Children

This book was made during my fellowship at Kutch Mahila Vikas Sangathan (KMVS), a feminist grassroots non-profit working towards the total empowerment of women and young girls across the district of Kutch in Gujarat, India. On the occasion of International Women's Day 2023, KMVS decided to start a conversation on (gender) discrimination in the access to technology with primary school children in villages across Kutch.

The initial brief was to just make a colouring book. However as we ideated, we came up with more fun activities to include in the book, that would aid the sessions to be conducted on this topic in the schools. Together they were meant to help facilitate dialogue on gender discrimination in the access to technology, tips on internet safety, ways to make access to technology more equitable, how to deal with violence and hatred on the internet, and to understand the children's usage patterns of the internet and smart devices. Along with these, illustrations were made for children to colour into, that depicted equitable use of smart devices in their context. QR codes to animated short films were also included. This book was completely made in Gujarati, keeping in mind the local context.
